National information and guides
Amdram has tons of useful information and links to theatrical societies and resources all over the UK. Whilst it does exhibit a significant bias towards East Anglia, this can be thought of as a harmless eccentricity.
British Theatre Guide has lots of material covering professional and amateur theatre. It gives the impression of having been put together with a lot of thought.
UK Theatre Web is also worth a look.
The National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) now has a web site - with national and regional information. CATS sits in the NODA South-East region. Their website has information about all the societies in the region.
There are lots of "what's on" guides on the Internet. We particularly like Remotegoat!
Other Theatrical Societies with some sort of connection to CATS
The CATS pantomime camel (another Jenny Truckell construction) made an appearance in Selborne in her spare time (and in Dick Whittington)
Southampton Operatic Society occasionally puts on youth productions at Colbury Memorial Hall. (There is an occasional reciprocal loan arrangement between the stage crews - exchanging the CATS lighting tower for the SOS apron stage.)
Romsey Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society (RAODS) puts on shows at the Plaza Theatre and furnished CATS with some of the costumes for Oliver! (Bless their cotton socks.)
Hayling Island Amateur Dramatic Society has also been known to provide us with the occasional stage prop.
Ian "Doc" Russell, a one-time resident of Ashdene Road, Ashurst is now webmaster for his local theatre group near Adelaide, South Australia. Visit them on line!
Sites relevant to our corner of Hampshire
NewForest-Online is a categorised directory of businesses, clubs and everything else relevant to the New Forest area. (The company also provides web hosting services with a local flavour.)
Ashurst Parish Council web site has moved under the New Forest District Council umbrella. The site contains information about Ashurst and Colbury including photographs of the village and contact details for local organisations.
New Forest District Council has a site which includes information about activities and events in our area.
Southampton TV arts programme, Arts 4 Evry1, has a web site listing the contact details of all the arts organisations (performing, visual, musical...) they can find in the Southampton area.
|
Finally, Hantsweb, who provide the hosting service for this
site, request that we stick their logo on every page. Even if they didn't ask, we'd do it anyway - Hampshire County
Council have created an outstanding site and an outstanding service to organisations within the county. |
